Ellen Mather

Ellen was born in 1818 in Darwen.¹

Ellen's father was <male> Mather and her mother was Martha Mather. She had a brother and a sister, named John and Mary. She was the oldest of the three known children.

General Notes
- In the early 1840, about a third of all Mather births registered in Wigan Union were illegitimate.
  
  In 1851, Ellen Mather (33, Unmarried) was living with her sister in Mary Ann Hindley (21). Ellen was a Silk Weaver and had three children, Jane (14), James (11) and John (8), all born in Darwen.
