Elizabeth's father was Samuel Mather and her mother was Mary Haslam. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Mather and Mary Yates. She had two sisters named Mary and Betty. She was the youngest of the three children. She died at the age of 79 on April 11th, 1871 in Manchester.²
