Alice was born in 1822 in Manchester and her baptism took place there on September 1st, 1822.1  Alice's father was Willoughby Mather and her mother was Dinah Parker. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Robert, William, Thomas, Eliza and Catherine.  She was the second oldest of the six known children.
