Robert was born in March 1853 in Farnworth and his baptism took place on April 3rd, 1853 at St. Michael (Gt. Lever).1  Robert's father was Benjamin Lomax and his mother was Alice Horridge. He had a brother and three sisters, named Thomas, Jane, Mary and Alice.  He was the second youngest of the five children.
