Friend's father was James Leech and his mother was Grace Hanson. He had three brothers and a sister, named Hanson, Isaac, Sam and Ann.  He was the third oldest of the five children. He had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named James, Dan, Sam, Ben and Emma.
