Mally was born in Tottington.  Mally's father was John Knowles and her mother was Hannah (Annah) Lomax. She had three brothers and five sisters, named James, Andrew, John, Jane, Hannah, Sally, Mary and Anna.  She died in October 1773 in Tottington.  She was buried on October 17th, 1773 at St. Anne (Turton).1
