Harry was born in September 1780 in Entwistle and his baptism took place on September 4th, 1780 at St. Anne (Turton).1  Harry's father was William Knowles and his mother was Betty Allmon. He had a brother and three sisters, named John, Hannah, Mary and Alice.  He was the oldest of the five children.
