Sydney's father was Edwin Kidd and his mother was Bertha Mary Westpfahl.  His maternal grandparents were Christian Friedrich Westpfahl and Anna Catharina Soffea Dunkacke. He had a brother and a sister, named Herbert and Bertha.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died as an infant at 11 months old in June 1912 in West Derby.  He was buried on July 3rd, 1912.²
