Jane was born in 1849 in Little Budworth.1  Jane's father was James Hopley Jnr and her mother was Elizabeth Davenport.  Her paternal grandparents were James Hopley and Mary. She had a brother named Henry.  She was the younger of the two children. She had three half-brothers named Charles, John and George.
