Jane was born on August 31st, 1815 in Shrewsbury and her christening took place on September 24th, 1815 in Shawbury.1 2  Jane's father was Benjamin Holt and her mother was Ann Green. She had a brother and seven sisters, named Benjamin, Ann, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Martha, Hannah and Catherine.  She was the third oldest of the nine children.
