Eliza was born in 1859.  Eliza's father was William Higginson and her mother was Mary Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were James Mather and Elizabeth (Betty) Jameson. She had two brothers and a sister, named Joseph, James and Sarah.  She was the youngest of the four known children.
