James was born on April 17th, 1900 in Darcy Lever.1  James' father was Joseph Haslam and his mother was Mary Alice Barlow.  His maternal grandparents were John Nelson Barlow and Alice Hardman. He had five brothers and a sister, named Elizabeth, John, Fred, Walter, Joseph and Edith.  He was the third youngest of the seven children.



James' family with Anne Ashcroft

‌James and Anne were married in a religious ceremony in 1926 at St. Stephens (E Bolton).2  They had a son named Derek.  There are no more children.
