Robert was born in 1780 and his baptism took place on October 1st, 1780 in Westhoughton.1  Robert's father was William Gregory and his mother was Beatrice (Batrix) Mather.  His maternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Mary Mather. He had a brother named William.  He was the older of the two known children.
