Sarah was born in 1847 in Bosden.1  Sarah's father was Samuel Fidler and her mother was Ann Hill.  Her paternal grandparents were George Fidler and Ann Fidler. She had four brothers and three sisters, named George, Isaac, Samuel, Joe, Martha, Elizabeth and Emma.  She was the oldest of the eight children.

‌Sarah and Joseph were married in a civil ceremony about 1888 in Ashton-under-Lyne. The family line is yet to be completed.
