John was born in 1801 in Bersham.1  John's father was Edward Eddowes and his mother was Mary Eddowes. He had four sisters named Margaret, Sarah, Ann and Elizabeth.  He was the second oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 58 in December 1859 in Wrexham.2
