Mary was born about 1855 in Droylsden.¹

  No death matching death index records, so probably is the same person, but maybe Henry Doxey married twice - Both Marys! More likely, is that the 1881 census is in error.

Mary's father was Hugh Dooley and her mother was Bridget Costello.

- Mary may have been born in Barnsley, Yorkshire (see 1901 census), but earlier records suggest Droylsden. Mary Ann's birth registered in Stockport is a good match, but she seems to have changed age as time progressed.
  
  If she had Walter before she married Henry, she may have been married twice, but is recorded as a spinster on the marriage certificate.
  
  The 1911 census shows Henry and Mary married for 36 years.
