Pamela, known as Betty, was born on January 15th, 1933 in Liverpool.¹

Betty's father was Frederick (Will) William Dittmer and her mother was Mary (May) Elizabeth Newman. Her paternal grandparents were Christopher (Fred) Frederick Dittmer and Maud Seymour Lindop. She had a brother named Fred. She was the younger of the two children.

- Betty Dittmer, an old friend of my mothers, is my 3rd cousin. Betty was good friends with Elsie and Harry Dittmer of Devonshire Road (my grandparents).
  
  Was known as Betty in her youth. Mary Newman was her mother, who came from County Meath in 1914 to go into service in a 'big house' in Liverpool They lived in Knotty Ash most of her life.
  
  Family emigrated to NZ in 1966, possibly first living in Victoria, Australia
