Katharina was born on June 15th, 1857.  Katharina's father was Johann Peter Dittmer and her mother was Anna Magdalena Buchholz.  Her paternal grandparents were Johann Peter Dittmer and Anna Magdalena Schmalfeldt. She had a brother named Peter.  She was the younger of the two children. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named William, Marie and Katharine.  She died at 8 months old on February 27th, 1858.
