John is the only baptism at Silkstone around 1809 with Joseph as a father.
In 1841, John and Ann (30 & 20) were living at George Yard Market Place, Barnsley with Charles (6), Robert (4), Harriet (2) and Hannah (1).
In 1871, the census has John born in Sunderland, Durham (which is different to all other census records). If true, he may be the son of George Crosland and Sarah Jones of Doncaster, born 19 June 1809.
John and Nanny were married in a religious ceremony on August 17th, 1834 in Silkstone.5 They had nine sons and four daughters, named Charles, Robert, John, Fred, Job, Albert, Sam, Everett, Arthur, Harriet, Hannah, Emma and Eliza. There are possibly more children.
