Benjamin was born in 1782 in Lindley and his baptism took place on April 1st, 1872 at St. Peter (Huddersfield).1  Benjamin's father was James Crosland and his mother was Mary Dixon. He had two brothers named John and George.  He was the second oldest of the three known children.
