Maurice's father was John William Buckley and his mother was Mary Wood. His paternal grandparents were <unknown> and Sarah Buckley. He had a brother and two sisters, named Elliott, Clara and Ethel. He was the oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 60 on March 8th, 1949 in Dobcross.²
