John was born in July 1776 in Ashton-under-Lyne and his baptism took place there on July 1st, 1776. John's father was Joshua Buckley and his mother was Mary Hague. He had a brother and a sister, named Joshua and Mally.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 77 in 1853 in Little Budworth.
