James was born on April 13th, 1845 in Bury and his christening took place on April 26th, 1845 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Bury).1  James' father was William Buckley and his mother was Ann Nuttall. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, William, William, John, Elizabeth and Margaret.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died due to a childhood disease at the age of 1 on March 30th, 1847 in Bury.1
