Ellen was born in 1794 in Chadderton and her baptism took place on September 21st, 1794 at St. Leonard (Middleton).1  Ellen's father was John Buckley and her mother was Ann Hilton. She had a brother and two sisters, named James, Mary and Mary.  She was the oldest of the four children.
