William's father was Thomas Brereton and his mother was Elizabeth Rowe.  His paternal grandparents were William Brereton and Jane Pate. He had three brothers and two sisters, named William, John, William, Alice and Elizabeth.  He died at the age of 10 in 1770 in Farndon.  He was buried on August 16th, 1770 at St. Chad (Farndon).¹
