Mary was born in September 1780 in Church Minshull and her baptism took place there on September 3rd, 1780.1  Mary's father was Samuel Brereton and her mother was Elizabeth Yearsly. She had two brothers and two sisters, named John, Samuel, Elizabeth and Margaret.  She was the second youngest of the five children.
