Elizabeth was born in May 1775 in Church Minshull and her baptism took place there on May 28th, 1775.1  Elizabeth's father was Samuel Brereton and her mother was Elizabeth Yearsly. She had two brothers and two sisters, named John, Samuel, Mary and Margaret.  She was the oldest of the five children.
