Katherine's father was Samuel Brereton Snr and her mother was Mary Whittingham. She had four brothers and a sister, named Samuel, George, Thomas, John and Elizabeth.  She was the second oldest of the six children.  She died at the age of 81 in April 1821 in Bridgemere.  She was buried on April 11th, 1821 in Wybunbury.¹
