Nancy's father was Thomas Bowker and her mother was Lucinda Salmon. She had a brother and a sister, named Francis and Elizabeth.  She was the oldest of the three children. She had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named James, Willie, Sarah, Ethel, Emily and Ellen.
