Robert was born in 1821 in Harwood and his baptism took place on January 7th, 1821 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Robert's father was John Booth and his mother was Sarah Scowcroft. He had three brothers and four sisters, named John, Richard, Luke, Mary, Alice, Sarah and Elizabeth.  He was the youngest of the eight children.
