Charles' father was James Bevan and his mother was Mary Wynn.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Bevan and Elizabeth Bevan. He had a brother named James.  He was the older of the two children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named John, Martha and Emma.  He died at the age of 1 in June 1871 in West Derby.²
