Alice's father was Samuel Berry and her mother was Mary Mather. Her maternal grandparents were Geffrey (Jeffery) Mather and Catherine Gregory. She had a brother named John. She was the younger of the two children. She died at 3 months old in October 1873 in Edgworth. Her burial was on November 2nd, 1873 at St. Anne (Turton).²¹
