Ronald was born on May 7th, 1914 in Bolton.1  Ronald's father was Frederick (Fred) Ashmore and his mother was Sarah Holland.  His paternal grandparents were James Ashmore and Betsy Barrow; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Holland and Mary Ellen Brownlow. He had two brothers and a sister, named Gerald, Frank and Lily.  He was the second youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 99 on August 30th, 2013.

‌Ronald and Polly were married in a religious ceremony in March 1935 in Bolton.1   They had two daughters named Freda and Doreen.  There are no more children.
