Barbe was born on October 21st, 1654 in Beaupré, Montmorency, Qc, Canada.  Barbe's father was Julien Fortin and her mother was Geneviève Gamache.  Her paternal grandparents were Julien Fortin and Juliette Guillemin; her maternal grandparents were Nicolas I Gamache and Jacqueline Cadot. She had eight brothers and three sisters, named Charles, Eustache, Jacques-Thimothée, Jean, Joseph, Julien, Louis, Pierre, Geneviève, Marguerite and Marie-Anne.  She died at the age of 82 on August 23rd, 1737 in Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré, Montmorency, Qc, Canada.
