Pierre was born in 1617 in Mortagne, Perche, Orne, France.  Pierre's father was Zacharie Cloutier and his mother was Xaintes Dupont.  His paternal grandparents were Denis Cloutier and Jeanne Rahir Gauthier; his maternal grandfather was Michel Dupont and his maternal grandmother is Perrine  N Inconnue. He had two brothers and a sister, named Jean, Charles and Anne.  He was the oldest of the four children.
