Martha was born on November 2nd, 1836. Martha's father was Dennis Dye and her mother was Anna Stuart Webb. Her paternal grandparents were Reuben/Ruben Dye and Mary Jane Riggs. She had four brothers and eight sisters, named Benjamin, William, David, Dennis, Julia, Jane, Eliza, Harriett, Nancy, Mary, Drusilla and Elizabeth. She was the seventh oldest of the thirteen children.
