Rufus Stephens

Rufus was born on October 18th, 1773 in Canaan, Litchfield County, Connecticut.¹ Rufus' father was Joshua Stephens and his mother was Christiana Dutcher. His paternal grandparents were Jedediah Stephens Sr and Mary Rathbone. He had four brothers and two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Ezra, Ira, William, Jedediah, Clarissa, Christina and Leander. He was the third oldest of the eight children.
