Clarissa Stephens

Clarissa was born on August 7th, 1768 in Canaan, Litchfield County, Connecticut.¹ Clarissa's father was Joshua Stephens and her mother was Christiana Dutcher. Her paternal grandparents were Jedediah Stephens Sr and Mary Rathbone. She had five brothers and a sister, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Rufus, Ezra, Ira, William, Jedediah, Christina and Leander. She was the oldest of the eight children.
