Charles was born on November 28th, 1833.1   Charles' father was Maltby G. Hillyer and his mother was Irene Amoret Jewett.  His maternal grandparents were Joseph Jewett and <Unknown>. He had four sisters named Julia, Sarah, Jane and Sophia.  He was the youngest of the five children.
