Hiram was born on November 17th, 1912 in New Lyme, Ashtabula County, Ohio.1 Hiram's father was Alfred Giddings and his mother was Maude Iona Gowdy. His paternal grandparents were Cassius M. Giddings and Elizabeth Fenton. He had two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender named Naomi, Mary and Lunetta. He was the second oldest of the four children.-
