Jozef's father was Alfons Moons and his mother was Clementine Swerts. His maternal grandparents were Remi Swerts and Maria Catharina Gaethofs. He has four brothers and two sisters, named Remi, Leopold, Marcel, Etienne, Anna and Paula.-
