Petrus Alphonsius was born on October 6th, 1845 in Beringen.¹ Petrus Alphonsius' father was Casimir Gaethofs and his mother was Marie Thérèse Vertessen. His paternal grandparents were Petrus Franciscus Gaethofs and Catherina Bervoets. He had a half-brother named Petrus Lambertus. He died at the age of 20 on August 4th, 1866 in Luik.¹
