Marie Clara was born on February 28th, 1812 in Paal.¹ Marie Clara's father was Petrus Franciscus Gaethofs and her mother was Catharina Elizabeth Theunis. Her paternal grandparents were Joannes Michael Gaethofs and Anna Catharina Put; her maternal grandparents were Jacobus Theunis and Gertruda Houmeijers. She had three brothers and a sister, named Josephus, Jean (Joannis), Carolus and Maria Christina. She was the youngest of the five children. She had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Henry, Casimir, Lodewijk, Pieter Hendrik, Henrika and Regina. She died at the age of 58 on September 17th, 1870 in Beringen.²
