Maria was born on July 16th, 1626 in Heusden.1   Maria's father was Cornelius Gaethofs and her mother was Elisabeth Daniels.  Her paternal grandparents were Bartholomeus Gaethofs and Maria Beelen. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Bartholomy, Joannes, Petrus, Hubertus, Anna, Christina, Catherina and Elisabetha.  She was the third oldest of the nine children.
