Georgius was born on May 8th, 1918 in Borgerhout.¹ Georgius' father was Remigius Gaethofs and his mother was Maria Gedula Reijns. His paternal grandparents were Jan Franciscus Gaethofs and Catherine Elisa Vanderheyden; his maternal grandparents were Eduardus Reijns and Constantia Bolssens. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Franciscus Edouardus, Leo Albertus Theresia, Elisabeth Constantia, Maria Gudula and Maria Theresia Leonardus. He was the third youngest of the six children.
