Jane was born in 1841.  Jane's father was John Dixon Wilson and her mother was Jane Grey.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Wilson and Lucia Lindsey; her maternal grandparents were William Grey and Mary Tait. She had a brother and three sisters, named Thomas, Lucy, Mary and Elizabeth.  She was the fourth oldest of the five children.
