Matheus  was born on December 1st, 1593 in Antwerp.1   Matheus 's father was Michiel  BROERS  and his mother was Cornelia Peters  ( (Neelke of Nylke)).  His paternal grandparents were Geeraert   (De Oude) BROERS  and Anna De Cale . He had two brothers and a sister, named Guilhelmus , Joannes  and Susanna .  He was the second oldest of the four children.
