Nancy Elizabeth was born in 1906.  Nancy Elizabeth's father was John Sherman Bicknell and her mother was Lucy Azbill.  Her paternal grandparents were Sylvester W. Bicknell and Nancy Rose Bicknell; her maternal grandparents were Linsfield Asbell and Ona Frances Gentry.  She is the fifth of eight children.  She had five brothers and two sisters, named Virgil, Nelson, James Earl, Kenneth Elby, John Alson, Bertha Frances and Bessy.
