SGT. RICHARD II CASE

  • Sergeant Richard Case and Mercy Holcomb moved to West Simsbury, Conn. in 1757. They were the first settlers in that part of town.

    SEEG. EICHAED CASE, 2D. He was son of Capt.
    Eichard, and grandson of the first John Case. He removed
    to West Simsbury in 1737, and is supposed to have been
    the first settler, and to have erected the first dwelling-house
    in this portion of the town. His son Sylvanus has ever
    been reputed to have been the first English child born
    within the limits of West Simsbury. He resided on the
    East Hill; the building-site is still to be seen opposite the
    dwelling-house lately erected by his great grandson, John
    Case, Esq. (WRITTEN IN 1858)

    Uriah, B 1743, D  1826, Married 1st, Susannah Lawrence; 2d, Eunice Dill.
    Edward,B   1748, D 1822, Married Zeruah Lawrence.
    Phineas,  B 1750,  D 1798,  Married Sarah Tuller.
    Mercy,  B 1752, D 1818,   Married Abram Moses.
    Naoma,  B1755,  D 1822,  Married David Pettibone.
    Timothy, 1759, 1850,  •• Married Esther Brown.
    
      In this family of eleven children they all lived to adult
    years, and married, except Joab.
