Bernardus was born on August 23rd, 1778 in Silvolde and his baptism took place there on August 24th, 1778.1  Bernardus' father was Steven Lovinck (Lidmaat 1750) and his mother was Willemina Vriesen (Vriessen, Vriezen).  His paternal grandparents were Hendrick Jan Lovinck and Derksen Frericks; his maternal grandparents were Garrit Jan Vriessen and Berendina Rexwinkel. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Hendrik Jan, Gerrit Jan, Willem, Steven Hermanus, Derksen, Willemina, Jenneken and Grada.  He was the third youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 33 on August 17th, 1812 in Terborg.2
